Mental Health Promotion Sub Group

The Cardiff Mental Health Promotion Sub Group is a sub group of the Cardiff Mental Health Advisory Planning Group. It was set up to develop a partnership approach to the development and delivery of a mental health promotion action plan in line with the Welsh Assembly Government National Service Framework (NSF) and more recently the Wales Mental Health Promotion Action Plan.

The Role of the Partnership Group

The Cardiff Mental Health Promotion Sub Group aims to support a focused partnership approach to developing and delivering best practice in mental health promotion work.

The Mental Health Promotion Sub Group advises on and guides the development and delivery of the action plan (adult/older people component). The children and young people's part of the mental health promotion plan has been further developed though the setting up of Children and Young People's Emotional and Mental Health Task Group within the Children and Young People's Partnership structure, and current activity includes work on anti-bullying and school counseling.

A range of actions have been delivered to date, including co-ordination of the Book Prescription Scheme, literature review and mapping of befriending and the running of a befriending forum, training provision, development and support of information on mental health for service users, carers and professionals and work around anti-stigma.
